Website Frenzy...Just for fun

Saturday, May 16, 2009

So, I'm sure a lot of you have already heard about the FML website. If you haven't, it's pretty hilarious. Check it out here.

Well, there's also a follow-up site to that, which is MLIA (My Life is Average). Here is the link.

They are both constantly updated, so you always have new material to read. I can't decide which I like better, but I think it has to be FML since it's the original ;)

Free entertainment. What can get better than that?

***Here is my own personal FML story:
I was planning on meeting some girlfriends at a restaurant. I picked up one of my girlfriends on the way. When we got to the restaurant, we saw a parking spot right in front. Just between me and you, I am not the best parallel parker, esp. when the spot is on the left side. And it was a really really tight spot. Anyways, I was excited that there was a spot right in front, so I rushed to grab it. I attempted to park the car....ahem, 2 times unsuccessfully. And my girlfriend even tried 2 times!! It took us 4 times to park it! So after we finally managed to park the car, we strolled into the restaurant, and when we walked in, this group of guys in the table at the front of the restaurant applauded us and said "Finally, girls!!" We rushed past them and went to look for our other friends completely embarassed. FML!!

Hairy Situation

Thursday, May 14, 2009

There are two hair trends right now that I love:

Hair Trend #1: The loose side bun. I just love love love this low bun on the side look. I love how it's a modern twist on the classic updo. It's great because it's low maintenance while at the same time makes you look chic and sophisticated. Unfortunately, I tried to recreate this look with no avail. I wish I had a hair stylist who could do it for me!!!

Here is how it looks:

Here is how you can achieve this look:
Step 1:
Brush hair back firmly, hold at back of neck, and with the other hand tightly twist it around itself to create a tension letting the chignon almost shape itself.

Step 2:
Hold the chignon at the center with the index finger of the left hand and wind the rest of the hair around.

Step 3:
Carefully push the ends under the chignon and fasten with pins (use ones similar to your hair color, or decorative ones to match what you wear. For a tighter fit push the hair pins at an angle into the chignon, then flatten them against your scalp sliding them in place under the chignon.

Hair Trend #2: The side braid. I love how girly and sophisticated it looks. It looks good with a loose bun or with your hair naturally down. This look is also low maintenance. Here's how you can achieve the look:

Option 1: For the braid with a bun, follow the steps above but just take a section of your hair and braid it first while securing it with bobby pins before you do the other steps.

Option 2:
For the natural braid, just simply take a section of your hair and braid it. Then just hold your braid with a few bobby pins. You can just braid one side of your hair or both sides.

Now that you have all the info on hot, happening hair, just slip on that party dress and be a head turner with your fabulous hair!

HELP WANTED

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

So I'm a teacher, and the school year is winding down, and I don't have a job for the summer. Even though I'll still get paid during the summer, I want to keep myself busy and make some more money. I kind of want to branch out away from teaching and working with kids and try doing something else for the summer, but I preferably don't want to work retail (my idea of fun is not folding clothes).

I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what kind of fun job I can have for the summer? I know with the recession going on and all, it's going to be tough to find a job, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys! =)

Romp it up!

Sunday, May 3, 2009

I just bought a black romper for the summer, and I'm so excited to wear it with a cute belt! It's such a cute, stylish trend that I love. And the best thing is that you don't have to worry about what to wear on top or on bottom because it comes all in one!!!

The one I bought looks very similar to this Ella Moss one that retails at $168:

But the one that I bought was this one from Forever 21, and it only cost $26.90!!

Since I love wearing bright belts for color as I mentioned in the post below, I would probably wear it with a bright belt instead of the one that comes with it. Here are different ways that you can wear this look...

For more of a casual look, pair them with cute sandals like this:

For more of a dressy look, pair them with a sexy pair of kitten heels like this:

So it's up to you if you want to go casual or dressy, but rompers are so versatile that they work with whatever look you want!

On a side note, I just wonder how hard it will be to go to the bathroom in a romper, hehe.....
