Socks with sandals....This 70's trend is coming back into style, but personally, I really don't like it. It makes me cringe. What do you guys think?
These look okay but still doesn't mean I'm a fan...
These look just absolutely ghastly...
On the other hand, tights with sandals, I like much better:
So ladies, if you're going to wear sandals and want to cover your legs, cover them up all the way with tights, not socks!

at first i absolutely hated the sock w/sandals look but it's slowly growing on me. i think certain people can pull it off. me...oh hell no. my ankles are wee bit too big. tights on the other hand...i love!

I do not like socks with sandals!!! Not ok!!
I do like the tights! And at the very least...wear close-toe shoes if you wear anything else, socks or tights!

Yeah, anything open-toe with socks or tights really turns me off. I just can't get into it.

Aw, Lily, now I have to go home and change...
LOL, not a big fan, though I have seen one or two girls and thought "oh, how cute" but I think if I had them on, I'd be self-conscious all day. xx

I have to agree with you. Sandals and socks just don't flow with me. I can't even imagine wearing socks right now, except to the gym, since it's so hot here!!

I kind of like them. It actually depends if the wearer can pull it off.
Someone like Rachel Bilson could but others like Peaches Geldof can't.
And kneesocks look especially Fab. Serena Van Der Woodsen overdose, maybe.

I think certain people can pull it off, while othes can't. I think it's a trend, that will possibly go away... not sure how long, but some of them look cute. I think that if regular people do that, it looks weird, but runway models, and magazines, can do it.

Fab post and spot on. STOP.THIS. I love the tights with open toe for sure but socks? The first pic has such a gorg. dress but the socks...too little school girl. Ugh. And not to be unkind but Agnyss Deyn may be the face of Burberry but she is literally one of the worst dressed people. The get up you show is example # 1,000,000

I love tights with open-toe shoes such as you've shown and I actually think that the socks & sandals look can look great if:
1. the colors used are of similar tones or adjacent tones
2. you have stupid skinny model legs
Sadly I do not have requirement #2 so I can't indulge in this trend.

Ugh yeh not a fan of the socks with sandles though the first few don't look too bad. And the tights are hot! Especially love the Leighton Meester pic.

Love, love, love tights with sandals.
Ick, socks with sandals makes me think of 45 year olds who wear tube socks with Teva sandals. I don't think I'll ever be able to get behind the trend! Agyness Deyn's choice of fashion in that picture is bad enough, especially when paired with sandals and socks =/

you know, i can actually handle some of those examples. as long as the sandal has a heel, i think it has a chance of being a success. though i grant you a slim one.

There is nothing I loathe more than socks with sandals. It's a hideous trend that should, if you must know, be noted as a crime. And not just a crime of fashion...a crime in general. Lock the wearer up and throw away the key!
Like you said, however, tights with sandals is quite a decadent look. :)

socks with sandals is FUG-UG! I hate hate hate it. Actually a lot of guys I work with at work wears socks with sandals, I guess now they can call themselves trendy instead of dorky. HAH!

It really depends what kind of socks wwith what kind of sandals.... I like the high heels sandals with the socks :), hehehe....but have to think about it if I would wear it myslfs :s

Socks with sandals sort of relates to your post about not wanting to grow up. To me it looks like a desperate attempt to look like a girl. Jennifer Anniston's pic looks just plain silly, a 40 year old woman in 10 year old clothing. Its a furthering of trying to deny that we all get older and when you are older, you'll find its sort of insulting... this whole I have to look no older then 16 thing.
I'm far older then that, I love fashion, but nice sophisticated fashion. The tights look fine to me but the ankle socks are just silly.

ew i agree not cute. I like it on Leighton Meester but thats about all.. The only good thing about this would be maybe my sandals won't be as stinky ha!
